What languages is the course offered in?
The Credit Counseling Course is offered in English and Spanish only.
The Debtor Education Course is offered in English and Spanish only.
Which course do I need to take?
Individuals filing for bankruptcy must complete both the Pre-filing
Credit Counseling
Course
and the Post-filing Debtor Education Course. The Credit Counseling
Course must be completed before filing, and the Debtor Education Course must be
completed after filing. Both courses may be taken online.
How much does the course cost?
Both courses may be taken online or over the telephone.
The Online Credit Counseling Course is $20. The Online Debtor Education Course is $20. There is an additional $4.99 charge for joint course takers.
The Telephonic Credit Counseling Course is $20. The Telephonic Debtor Education Course is $20. There is an additional $10 charge for joint course takers.
How long does it take to complete the course?
The Credit Counseling Course takes approximately 60 minutes online to
complete. The Debtor Education Course takes
a minimum of two hours to complete. It is required by program guidelines that you
spend at least two hours to complete the Debtor Education Course.
When will I receive my certificate of completion?
Immediately after completing the course you will be emailed a copy of your certificate
of completion. The certificate may also be faxed to you at your request. If you
are working with an attorney, your certificate of completion will be emailed to
him or her as well if you provided his or her email address during registration.
